Graz – the capital of Styria and the second-largest city in Austria – is located in the southeast of Austria, with a long tradition of culture, science and a long tradition as seat of universities.

In 2003 Graz was the European Capital of Culture and is now part oft he UNESCO World Cultural Heritage because of its architecture.

Graz’s old town around the Schlossberg (with its Uhrturm, the landmark of the city) has for centuries created a cityscape characterized by different styles (gothic, baroque, renaissance, art nouveau and modernity) and is characterized by its unique roof landscape.

The city is compact so that the most important sights are within walking distance from the main square (“Hauptplatz”). More information about Graz you will find at  www.graztourism.at.

The best way to explore Graz is by foot, however the excellent public transport network in and around Graz allows you to be completely flexible.
